On the 2nd of July 2019, Ubuhlebezwe Municipality Mayor Cllr ZD Nxumalo with the entire council in tow embarked on a ward visit to engage with the community of ward 10 with regards of the resignation of ward Cllr VC Mkhize on the 20th of June 2019.
The Mayor firstly thanked the community for coming out in their numbers during the National and Provincial election he further alluded to the fact that the Cllr was voted in by the community so it is the mandate of the municipality to inform the community formally of the Cllrs resignation.
The Mayor further went on to reaffirm the community that Cllr VC Mkhize and the Municipality are parting ways on good terms and that his resignation is due to personal reasons and not due to any rumors that might arise in future.
The interim Cllr for the ward up until the By-Election will be Cllr ZC Khumalo who is a PR Cllr within the municipality.
Sibongile Dlamini a community member stressed the hurt she felt when she heard the news of the resignation of the ward Cllr as they had a wonderful working relationship as the Cllr was assisting with her piggery breeding, Lindiwe Maluleke another community member stated that she felt disappointed by the resignation of Cllr Mkhize and thanked him for his service as he has been a dedicated individual who was not afraid to reach into his own pockets if the need arose.
Deputy Mayor Cllr EB Ngubo thanked the community for the consistent support they have given to the Cllr and making sure that he was accountable to the community he was serving.
