SUBSEQUENT to the previously elected candidate’s resignation as Ward 1 Councillor, the Municipality then advised the IEC of a vacancy within the Council of Ubuhlebezwe Municipality.

 

A by-election was then held on the 23rd February 2022 for a replacement candidate to be elected. Correspondence has now been received from IEC advising of the outcome of the by-election and the elected replacement Councillor as prescribed in item 18 of Schedule 1 of the Municipal Structures Act, 1998 (Act No. 117 of 1998) following the mentioned by-election.

 

Ubuhlebezwe Municipality held a Special Council meeting, to appoint and swear in Mr Lindokuhle Siphamandla Nicolas Mbele to serve as a Ward Councillor of Ubuhlebezwe Municipality for Ward 1. The Council then nominated Cllr Lindokuhle Siphamandla Nicolas Mbele to serve on the Human Recourses and Administration Portfolio Committee.
