PAYMENT RELIEF IN QUEST TO ENCOURAGE THE CULTURE OF PAYMENTS IN RATES AND SERVICES AND TO IMPROVE REVENUE COLLECTIONS BASE

This incentive is a once-off relief from 1 April 2024 to 30 June 2024. Should a customer default on the payment plan with the municipality, all interest written-off under the conditions of this Special Payment Relief will be reinstated and the total debt (including interest) will be reinstated for collection.

Summary:

The incentive will make provision for.

• Registration extension for Indigent customers from 1 March 2024 to 30 June 2024.
• The customer is to enter into a credit agreement with the Municipality on condition that the owing customer pays 50% of the outstanding debt (excluding interest) on or before 30 June 2024.
• The total interest accumulated and raised to the customer account will be reversed. The customer is to enter into a payment plan agreement for the balance of the outstanding debt over a maximum period of 24 months, including monthly billing.
• There will be no interest raised during the period of the payment plan agreement. Existing customers on payment plans may cancel the existing agreement and enter this once-off relief
• Customers owing less than R 30 000.00, are to enter into a credit agreement with the Municipality on condition that the owing customer pays 50% of the outstanding debt and thereafter enter into a payment arrangement for the remaining long outstanding debt plus current monthly billing

• Customers who pay a once-off payment on the annual billing shall be entitled to a discount of 5% off their annual billing. The rebate is applicable from 1 April 2024 – 30 June 2024.

The payment arrangements are set out as follows:

R 30 000.00 TO R200 000.00

• Reversal of all interest raised on the customer account
• Additional 20% Discount from remaining debt
• 50% Upfront Payment thereafter
• Payment arrangement of over 24 months thereafter, including current monthly billing

R 201 000.00 > ABOVE

• Reversal of all interest raised on the customer account
• Additional 30% Discount from remaining debt
• 50% Upfront Payment thereafter
• Payment arrangement of over 24 months thereafter, including current monthly billing
