MAYOR ENGAGES WITH IXOPO FARMERS ASSOCIATION TO DRIVE ENVIRONMENTAL PRESERVATION
This morning, the Mayor of Ubuhlebezwe Municipality, Cllr Bathobile Ngubo, held a briefing session with the Ixopo Farmers Association near Benmore Lodge along the R56.
Through this collaboration, the Municipality has officially partnered with the Ixopo Farmers Association to launch a targeted programme aimed at the removal of bugweed in several areas surrounding Ixopo.
Bugweed is a highly invasive species that poses a significant threat to local biodiversity. By removing it, this joint initiative will not only contribute to the protection of the natural environment but also enhance the aesthetic appeal of the town and surroundings.
“This is a shining example of how public-private partnerships can yield meaningful impact,” said Mayor Ngubo. “We are grateful to the Ixopo Farmers Association for joining hands with us in this important cause. Together, we are building a greener, cleaner, and more beautiful Ubuhlebezwe.”
The Municipality encourages all local stakeholders and residents to support this initiative and join in efforts to protect our shared environment. ... See MoreSee Less
Ubuhlebezwe Municipality in future please also consider involving other stakeholders that work closely with the environment within our community, this would have been more fruitful if you also extended the invitation to EDTEA, DFFE-Forestry.
